FAQs Fibroid removal in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai | Fibroid removal

      What is a fibroid?

A fibroid is a non-cancerous growth that develops in the uterus. Fibroids are common and occur in many women during their reproductive years.

Should I worry if I am diagnosed with fibroids?

Not necessarily. If the fibroid is small and does not cause symptoms, doctors usually recommend regular monitoring through annual scans and symptom observation.

      What symptoms can fibroids cause?

Fibroids may lead to heavy menstrual bleeding, prolonged periods, pelvic pain, frequent urination, difficulty passing urine, abdominal swelling, or digestive discomfort.

      Can fibroids cause infertility?

In some cases, fibroids may affect fertility depending on their size and location in the uterus. A gynecologist can assess their impact on pregnancy planning.

      How are fibroids diagnosed?

Fibroids are commonly diagnosed through pelvic examinations and ultrasound scans (sonography). They are often discovered during routine health check-ups.

      Can medicines remove fibroids permanently?

No. Medications can help manage symptoms like heavy bleeding and pain, but they generally do not make fibroids disappear completely.

What are the treatment options available for fibroid removal?

Treatment options may include medication, myomectomy (fibroid removal while preserving the uterus), laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, hysteroscopic surgery, or hysterectomy in selected cases.

      What is a myomectomy?

Myomectomy is a surgical procedure that removes fibroids while preserving the uterus, making it a preferred option for women who wish to maintain fertility.

Can fibroids come back after treatment?

Yes. Fibroids can recur after treatment because small microscopic fibroids may remain or new fibroids may develop over time.

Is there any way to prevent fibroid growth?

There is no guaranteed way to prevent fibroids, but maintaining a healthy lifestyle, regular physical activity, tracking menstrual cycles, and undergoing routine health check-ups may help with early detection and management.
