CME on kidney stone management was successfully attended by 70 General Practitioners all over from Kharghar, Kamothe, Kalomboli, Belapur, Seawoods, Nerul and Turbhe.

Highlights of CME

  • Medical management using latest drugs was discussed for non-surgical conservative management of kidney stones. It was highlighted that 85% of kidney stones pass by themselves without any intervention.
  • Role of Lithotripsy- ESWL (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy) was also discussed, here the role of latest generation Electromagnetic Lithotripter which MITR has becomes very important as success rates with this lithotripter in breaking the stones without pain without any cut are very high.
  • Latest guidelines for using proper surgery technique like Laser Stone surgery, Ureterorenoscopy (URS), Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL), Laparoscopic approach and Open surgery were discussed
  • Kidney stone management in children is different from adults and this was highlighted during the CME by doctors at MITR
  • How MITR Hospital is able to offer all these cutting edge surgical options in a personalized and individualized manner to every kidney stone patient was presented in a simple manner.
  • General practitioners who attended the CME appreciated that they learnt a lot of kidney stones and when to refer patient and which patients they can treat medically.
